Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2048, Neal Martin, Jul 2025

The 2002 Lafleur is a charming vintage and is maturing better than the 2003 or 2004. Quite concentrated for the vintage, it has wonderful detail and delineation, conservative like many 2002s but it conveys energy and tension. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins. This is, again, a Lafleur that plays it safe, but I appreciate the linearity and freshness that urges you back for more. This is drinking beautifully right now but will continue to mature in bottle. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2018-2034, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2002 Lafleur is a vintage that I have tasted numerous times. It has an intense bouquet for a 2002, quite mineral-driven with plenty of energy, though always a little conservative in keeping with the style of the vintage. The palate is quite dense and muscular, a little dry around the edge but with a core of blackberry and cranberry fruit that fans out on the Left Bank inspired finish. Excellent. Tasted blind in Bordeaux.

Very easy and round and lively. Lots of sweetness. A bit chewy, a bit taut. Like Le Pin, a bit tarter than most.  (JR)
