Punteggio 85/100 · Da bere 2018-2019, Neal Martin, Apr 2018

The 1962 La Lagune, a wine that I have encountered just once before, continues to give modest drinking pleasure though it is now reaching the end of its drinking plateau. There is little fruit remaining and it is dominated by that musty aroma you get when walking into an old second-hand antique shop, plus a little tomato vine that I picked up on when I last tasted this vintage. It is sharp and quite ferrous on the nose, yet you can tell it must have carried impressive weight in its youth. There is still "presence" on the finish even if its vigor has dimmed in recent years. Drink up. Tasted from a bottle in my personal cellar.

The 1962 La Lagune, tasted only once, was browning badly, and was quite soft on the palate, with dissipated, washed-out, fruity flavors. It seemed to be clearly coming apart at the seams. Pass it by. Last tasted, 8/78. Jan 1998, www.robertparker.com
