Punteggio 18/20 · Da bere 2002-2006, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2002

Light but healthy brick with some definite development. Lovely liquorice and ripeness on the nose even though this is obviously a mature wine. Beguilingly sweet, violets, start with lots of acidity but such charm... dyING and you'd need to be sure of a very good bottle, but this particular bottle is lovely, well balanced wine in great harmony now. Michel Bettane vociferously decried it as a cadaver, too chaptalised. Most of us lapped it up. (JR)

This unusual wine is very peppery and Rhone-like, with an odd medicinal nose, disjointed flavors, and a hot, alcoholic finish. It is a strange style of La Lagune made ostensibly from very young vines. Last tasted, 10/77.

Medium red-brick with an amber rim. Nose shows orange peel, marzipan and some VA. Sweet on entry, then a bit rigid in the middle, with incipient suggestions of maderization. Finishes a bit sour-edged, with spiky tannins. This bottle was past its best if not downright odd, but the group of wine civilians loved it.
