The 2008 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots is the most complete of the three 2008 Vosnes 1er crus I tasted. Hints of licorice, menthol and violets add complexity to the sweet, perfumed fruit. Medium red. Reticent but pure aromas of sweet raspberry, rose petal, minerals and cocoa, plus a creamy nuance. Then juicy, high-pitched and electric, with terrific definition and thrust to its red fruit and floral flavors. Not a fleshy wine yet but suave and bright, showing an absence of hard edges. Finishes lively and long.
Good bright, deep red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, cocoa powder and minerals. Chewy, tactile and deep, with good energy at the core. A serious, firmly tannic, saline wine that really coats the palate on the very long aftertaste. This will need time on release and should offer excellent aging potential.
Good medium red. Aromas of raspberry and milk chocolate. Sweet, suave and fine-grained; in fact, almost too easy for a young 2008 owing to its ripe, integrated acidity. The cherry and spice flavors are joined by broad, dusty, sweet tannins on the rising finish. But I prefer the Petits-Monts today for its cut.
