2006 Vosne Romanee Les Suchots

(bottled in August of 2008) Good full red. Very sexy aromas of raspberry, mocha, chocolate, licorice and musky spices; I love the stem element here. Silky on entry, then penetrating and powerful in the middle, with intense mineral and spice flavors perfuming the palate but currently dominating the underlying berry fruit. Today this is quite tight, and drier than the young 2007, but the wine's broad, suave tannins and excellent spicy persistence suggest it will repay seven or eight of cellaring.

Good full red. Lovely aromas of red cherry, flowers, spices and cocoa powder. A step up in intensity and purity from the preceding samples, offering a pungent spiciness and florality and compelling inner-mouth perfume. Impressive density of extract here. Finishes spicy, scented and long, with a firm tannic spine. Offers excellent potential, but this one is likely to require six to eight years of bottle aging.
