1996 Vosne Romanee Les Suchots

This wine, displaying candied red fruits drenched in bacon fat aromas, has a mouth-watering flavor profile of smoked pork and gorgeously ripe and juicy cherries. This medium-to-full-bodied, velvety-textured, and well-balanced wine has a long finish that reveals its satin-laced tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2006. Why this estate has not attracted more attention from lovers of red Burgundy escapes me. Readers are well-advised to make an effort to find its fairly priced and delicious wines.
