Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots 2011 has a clean, pure and delineated bouquet with ebullient cranberry, raspberry and wild strawberry scents infused with potpourri and wild heather. The palate is fleshy and rounded, generous to the fore with slightly lower acidity that lends it rondeur and approachability. It is missing a little backbone toward the finish, but there is plenty of substance here. What it needs to develop is greater tension and bite.

The 2011 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots is another delicious wine from Domaine de l'Arlot. Sweet, perfumed notes mend into a core of fruit infused with pure Vosne sensuality. The supple, silky finish holds plenty of appeal, especially for near and medium term drinking.
Bright, fresh red; less saturated than the Clos des Forets Saint-Georges. Very dark aromas of blueberry, black raspberry, cocoa powder and Oriental spices. Ripe, creamy and plush but not overly sweet; in fact, an herbal, peppery quality gives a firm edge to the dark berry, spice and mint flavors and a slight dryness to the finish. Finer-grained than the Clos des Forets Saint-Georges but there's nothing easy about this wine today.
50% new oak. 0.85 ha. Upper parcel just below Richebourg. Average of 55 years old. Drive and some sort of electricity in this wine. Lovely complete stuff. Gorgeous! Round and racy. Kerpow! Beginning, middle and end. Still lots of ripe tannins but masses, absolutely masses, of fruit and freshness. Very long. (JR)
