This wine is as fine from bottle as it was from cask. The wine is deeply colored, with a ripe, cassis and blackberry-scented nose, with subtle notions of licorice and melted road tar. There is excellent richness, medium body, and moderate tannin in the jammy, rich finish. It should age nicely. This wine is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2015.
