Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2010-2023, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

As is common with this cuvee, it shows a relatively modern profile right on release, yet with 6-7 years of cellaring it shows nothing but pure Provencal character and charm. Always based largely on Grenache, yet from a field blend that includes just about all permitted varieties, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Boisrenard (18 months in mostly older barrels) sports a healthy ruby color as well as a Burgundian-like array of sweet black cherries, blackberries, dried flowers, tons of garrigue, and licorice in a medium to full-bodied, fully mature, elegant, silky profile. While it lacks the depth and richness of the 2001, it's a beautiful wine that has no hard edges, sweet fruit and a clean, elegant style. Drink it anytime over the coming 5-7 years.

Up there with the ’01 in terms of quality, the 2007 Domaine de Beaurenard (Paul Coulon et Fils) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Boisrenard shows a modern style, with smoky black fruits, hints of wood, chocolate, violets and licorice and showing on the nose. While always showing a modern profile in its youth, this cuvee develops more typicity and southern Rhône flair with bottle age. Full-bodied, firm, and structured on the palate, with beautifully rich fruit, edgy acidity and structure, and notable length, this top notch Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a fun drink now, yet will be even better in 3-4 years, and have two decades of longevity.

Dark red. Exotic aromas of black raspberry compote, cherry-vanilla, spicecake and potpourri. Showing a lot of sexy oak but the deep, sweet red and dark berry flavors appear to be up to the lumber. Creamy in texture, with strong finishing spiciness and an echo of luscious dark berries. An extremely sexy wine that drinks very well now.
