The 2009 Fixin shows great intensity for this appellation. The fruit is round, supple and totally inviting. The wine's generous personality is totally captivating.

Good ruby-red. Sexy, aromatic nose combines redcurrant, tobacco, espresso and spices. Then juicier and tighter than the Marsannay, with more cut and energy. Good stuffing for this wine, and excellent acid spine for the vintage. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins, good breadth and sneaky persistence. These hillside vines yielded grapes with thicker skins in 2009, said Mortet, adding that there were more swollen berries at lower altitude.
