Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Neal Martin, Oct 2024

The 1975 Giscours might be considered to be the last of the great wines from the Tari period. The aromatics are wonderful: lively red berry fruit, sage, rosemary and sous-bois , certainly more complex than the '71. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that frame the fully mature red fruit, quite ferrous in style, with a little hickory towards the finish and a persistent, if slightly dry, aftertaste. Drink any bottles in the near future to enjoy it at its plateau.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2024-2028, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Feb 2024

Impressively poised, soft strawberry, gentle floral notes curl out of the glass on opening. This was the founding year of Decanter magazine meaning I have tasted quite a few wines from this vintage at various anniversary parties, and the Giscours stands up well. It's tertiary of course, but has charm, and maintains momentum through the palate. A heavily tannic vintage when young, where almost everyone wrote them off because they took so long to come round, but every now and then you find one that has survived. Tari family owners.

The 1975 Giscours is one of the outstanding successes for the vintage. Close to full maturity, it exhibits a powerful, well-balanced style. The color remains a healthy dark garnet. The wine possesses rich, concentrated fruit, full body, admirable ripeness, and an overall sense of balance despite strong tannin in the finish. This thick, rich Giscours may be the finest wine made between 1970-1994. It will continue to drink well for another 15+ years. Should readers see this wine at auction, it will probably sell for a low price. It is a classic, top-flight 1975.
