Note di degustazione
The 2005 Shiraz “The Beast” was aged in French oak for 18 months. Purple-colored, it exhibits a nose of cedar, smoke, leather, scorched earth, violets, blackberry, and blueberry compote. This is followed by a full-bodied, personality-filled wine with gobs of fruit, excellent breadth on the palate, silky tannin, and a long, pure finish. Give it 5-7 years in the cellar and drink it through 2025. Hentley Farm is an 80 acre estate located on the banks of Greenock Creek at Seppeltsfield. The proprietors are Keith and Alison Hentschke. The vineyard was planted in the late 1990s. Importer: www.hentleyfarm.com.au

Inky purple. Explosively fragrant, with seductive blackberry, blueberry and Asian spice aromas and a wallop of vanillin oak. Fat, velvety and deep, displaying liqueur-like dark berry and cherry flavors complicated by mineral and floral pastille notes. Really graceful for such weight and power. Very sexy wine, with impressive sweetness and persistence on the back end.
Deep, inky ruby. Porty, superripe and powerful on the nose, with dense blackberry and blueberry jam aromas along with a suggestion of molasses. Thick and dense, with big, chewy tannins framing ultraripe dark berry and plum flavors. I'm not sure what I'd do with this massive shiraz except serve it as a course by itself.
