2002 Malescot St Exupery

Good full medium ruby. Dark berries, chocolate mint, licorice, mocha, flowers and game on the nose. Silky-smooth and dense, with fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit complicated by torrefaction notes of mocha and chocolate. Offers a lovely combination of breadth and cut. This was bottled without fining or filtration.

A terrific wine and probably a great value given the pricing for this vintage, Malescot Saint-Exupery’s 2002 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, notes of anise-infused plum, blackberries, and cherries, broad, full-bodied flavors, wonderful density, yet tremendous purity and elegance. A noble wine that exudes gravitas, give it 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 15-16 years.

Deep crimson. Quite a ripe nose, but very Margaux. Smooth, aromatic, and very supple. Good acidic balance. An early developer. (JR)
