Tasted at the de Myrat vertical at the property. The 1996 Château de Myrat, which I had not tasted for 15 years, has a better nose than I was expecting, not as much "diesel fuel" as I anticipated, just light and rather ephemeral scents of barley sugar and mandarin. The palate is simple and slightly bitter on the entry, almost putting together a decent mid-palate of dried quince and spices, but not quite getting there, before rapidly fading away on the finish. Just past its best really. Tasted April 2016.

Just a hint of decay. Big and bold but not enough acidity. Quite evolved. A bit heavy. (JR)
Bitter bug spray and pineapple aromas; seems distinctly volatile. Has some texture in the mouth, but I'm not wild for the flavors. Perhaps best today on the finish, which features a note of beeswax. But I don't get much real ripeness.
