A showcase, Hollywood-like chateau (it is enormous and probably one of the top tourist sites in Europe), La Riviere has produced their best basic cuvee of wine since I have been tasting in Bordeaux. Plenty of black cherry fruit , smoked herbs and mulberries jump from the glass of this medium to full-bodied, fleshy, seductive style of wine. The low acidity, relatively abundant alcohol and sweet tannin make for an impressive, consumer-friendly style.

Very dark. Fleshy, rather animal. Much riper than most Fronsacs and a bit more forced. (JR)
