This 1982 is plump, rich, and concentrated, but essentially one-dimensional and simple. It offers thick, jammy fruit, but no complexity. There is some tannin in the finish. My instincts suggest this wine needs to be drunk up over the next 10-15 years. Tasted 3 times since bottling with consistent notes.

Good ruby-red. Old-style St. Estephe aromas of chocolate, menthol and fresh herbs. Distinctly tough in the mouth, with medicinal and herbal nuances. Lacks the ripeness of the vintage more successful examples.
