Black olive on the nose, with flowers and fruit. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a racy finish. There's plenty of subtle fruit and a dark chocolate finish. Firm and silky. 80 percent Merlot and 20 percent Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasted at Vintex. This has a well-defined, perfumed nose with notes of blackberry, cassis, a touch of mint and limestone. Very tight and refused to unfurl with time. The palate is full-bodied and well balanced, layers of black fruit with touches of tar and smoke, the acidity cutting nicely through the structure, rendering the finish well balanced, fresh and poised. Great focus and structure: this is destined to be a long-term La Croix St. Georges. Tasted April 2010
A beautiful blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon that nearly hit 15% natural alcohol in this remarkable vintage, proprietor Jean-Philippe Janoueix has produced a dense plum/purple-colored 2009 revealing notes of creosote, coffee, mocha, licorice, incense and blueberries as well as black fruits. Thick, juicy, full-bodied, mouthcoating, viscous and youthful, it needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should keep for 20-25 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2012
