Note di degustazione
(75% vendange entier ): Good dark red. Wild, meaty aromas of blackberry, violet, cocoa powder and peppery spices. Fine-grained and vibrant, boasting an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and superb mid-palate definition. Serious tannins reach the front teeth but are nicely buffered by the wine's considerable flavor. This long, backward wine will need at least five or six years of bottle aging.

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques is a big wine. An exciting melange of dark fruit, smoke, tar, incense and licorice flows through to the intense, opulent finish. I especially like the way the wine continues to gain breadth and volume in the glass. The Lavaux St.-Jacques was made with 75% whole bunches. Dugat used 100% new oak, some of which still needs to become integrated. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035. Bernard Dugat began picking on September 21. The harvest took place over 6 days and yields came in at less than 25 hectoliters per hectare. Dugat told me that worked out to about 105 barrels for 10.5 hectares of vineyards! The malos proceeded at a very slow pace and the wines weren’t racked until September, except for the Mazoyeres, which had not yet been racked at the time of my November visit. Most of the wines were made with a high percentage of stems, as noted below. Importer: The Sorting Table, LLC, 1700 Second Street Suite 380 Napa, CA 94559 ; tel: 707-603-1466
