Note di degustazione
Superb aromatics of spicy black fruits are found in the nose of the 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques. Medium-bodied, sappy, and persistent, this elegant effort reveals black cherry and blackberry flavors that linger in its long, fine tannin-studded finish. Projected maturity: 2007-2015. Deep medium ruby. Pure, expressive aromas of cassis, black raspberry, violet and espresso. Juicy but tightly wound and withdrawn, with healthy acidity for the vintage. The flavors of blackberry, cassis, minerals and violet show limited sweetness today but excellent intensity. Quite powerful and structured for 2003. Finishes with building, dusty tannins and strong oaky torrefaction. Dugat compared this to the Evocelles for its firmer structure and more obvious minerality, but this wine shows much more flavor development.
