2010 Syrah EQ

The 2010 EQ Syrah comes from the Rosario locality in San Antonio with 40cm of loam soil. It has a rounded, more extroverted, fruit driven nose than the Corralillo with blackberry, cassis and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannins that are quite stern, but complement the pure, tarry black fruit that is well defined on the finish. This is a classy Chilean Syrah that should age well over the next decade. Drink now-2022. This is a fine portfolio covering a wide array of varietals with some style, even if there was no particular wine that had me scrabbling around for superlatives. That is not to say that day may never come. The vineyards call Rosario Valley (within the San Antonio Valley) home.
