Note di degustazione
The Versino family has been on fire for a decade. In 2003, they added another limited production (about 2,000 bottles), luxury cuvee from 80-year old vines cropped at 20 hectoliters per hectare, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Baud. A completely destemmed blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Mourvedre, and 15% Syrah, it possesses a dense, saturated color, as well as a distinctive bouquet of mint, eucalyptus, ground pepper, melted licorice, sassafras, and black cherries. The complex aromatics are followed by an elegant, powerful, rich wine that builds incrementally in the mouth. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink it over the next 12-15. Importer: J & R Selections, Mt. Pleasant, MI; tel. (517) 772-3695 and Louis/Dressner, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334-8191
