The 1997 Avize Grand Cru is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. The aromas and flavors are already a bit forward. Dried pear, smoke, tobacco, licorice and dried flowers wrap around the soft, resonant finish. The style is quite rich and ample, especially next to the 1995.
