A juicy, succulent wine, the 2012 de Francs Les Cerisiers is one of the very best values readers will find in Bordeaux, or anywhere for that matter. Sweet cherry, plum, tobacco, mint and cedar abound in this delicious Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the Hébrard and de Boüard families.

An impressive marriage of two great winemaking teams are behind this cuvée, the Hebrard and Boüard families. The 2012 Les Cerisiers is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Notes of kirsch liqueur, licorice and spice are all present in this dense ruby/purple wine. Pure, rich, fleshy and medium-bodied, this is another major sleeper of the vintage, capable of providing pleasure over the next 7-8 years.
Inky, with black core. Concentrated dark fruit aroma. Reticent but promising. Pretty oaky on the palate, with sweet vanilla and spice as well as some char. Oak seems a bit heavy-handed when the fruit is so fine. Powder-fine tannins. (JH)
