Note di degustazione
The 2006 Moncerbal raises the bar considerably. An other-worldly perfume of kinky wild blueberries, incense, leather, and truffle leaps from the glass. Sexy and sweet on the palate, the wine has great depth and grip, potential complexity, and superb balance. It will evolve for 5-7 years and be at its best from 2015 to 2031. This estate was founded in 1998 by Alvaro Palacios. It has steep hillside vineyards ranging in age from 60 to 100 years planted to 100% Mencia, the indigenous grape of cool-climate Bierzo. Deep ruby. Fresh red berries and minerals on the nose, with suave floral qualities adding complexity. Impressively elegant and understated, with fresh redcurrant and raspberry flavors, silky texture and good mineral cut. Gained sweetness and depth with air, picking up fresh cherry and blackcurrant qualities. This wine's minerality and finishing precision are lovely, and it won't let go of the palate.
