Note di degustazione
The 2008 Château Ausone Chapelle d'Ausone is a beautiful wine, and I'd happily drink it. Blackcurrants, cherries, underbrush, hints of white truffle and spicy oak all emerge from this medium-bodied, silky, elegant effort that’s still young and unevolved. It has incredible purity, a building texture, and a great finish.

Cabernet Franc on the nose – positively leafy, in both senses of the adverb. Polished and smooth even if far from dramatic and extracted. Very distinctive. (JR)
A beautiful perfume of black raspberries, black cherries, black currants, licorice, damp earth, truffles and asphalt soars from this deep, full-bodied 2008. The tannins are sweet, the concentration level impressive and the wine is round and generous. It is ideal for drinking over the next 15-20 years.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Second wine of Ausone. Dark purple. Toasty, spicy, attention-grabbing. Very sweet start then lots of acid. Considerable focus and energy. Very dry finish. A bit like an electric shock. Rich and sweet start. Pretty damned good as a second wine! (JR)
