The latest release of Ployez-Jacquemart's emblematic NV Extra Quality Brut was disgorged with around five grams per liter dosage after three years on the lees. Mingling aromas of orange oil and fresh peach with hints of brioche and smoke, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a tightly wound core, racy acids and a dry, chalky finish. It will show even better after an additional year or two on cork.

Very pale lipstick pink. Really quite fragrant; this doesn't smell as though it's Extra Brut. In fact it tastes almost sumptuous! The added red wine must be very round and ripe. Very toothsome indeed. Well balanced and an easy drink. (JR)
Piercing, brisk nose. Bone dry but attractively gentle bead. Quite savoury and bone dry. Chalky finish. (JR)
Gold tints. Plenty of autolytic development, and the aroma of just-wrinkled, super-sweet golden delicious apples. Mouthfilling lacy mousse. Beautiful intensity. Slightly bitter seam around a heart of fresh crunchy fruit, spice and brioche. Full yet diaphanous. So much pleasure per sip. VGV (TC)
