A dark plum/ruby color is accompanied by dusty, earthy, sweet cherry, currant, smoke, and vanillin scents. A medium-bodied wine with moderate levels of tannin, admirable extract, and a linear personality, this 1996 possesses fine raw materials and good ripeness, but may turn out to be angular and austere given the elevated tannin level. Situated on the Saint-Emilion side of the appellation’s border with Pomerol, this estate was part of Ch. Figeac until 1879. They were an early pioneer of biodynamic farming, having converted the entire estate in 1997.
