The 2007 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the firmer, more structured wines in this typically forward, charming vintage. Wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berry fruit, plums, sweet spices and smoked meats, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a concentrated core of fruit that's framed by rich, powdery tannins. Still youthful, this is one vintage that showed its best on day two.

Claude Dugat’s 2007 Griotte Chambertin is impossibly beautiful. Sweet roses, the sweetest red cherries, plums and mint are all woven together in a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance and finesse. Still fresh and vibrant, the 2007 will drink beautifully for many years. Today, it is simply stunning. What a privilege it is to drink this extraordinary Burgundy.
Good bright, deep red. Another dimension on the nose: cherry, raspberry, violet, minerals and game, with complicating notes of smoke and underbrush. Like liquid silk in the mouth, but with compelling freshness and intensity to the fruit and soil flavors. Wonderfully tactile, vibrant wine with a superb rising finish that manages to be sweet and dry at the same time. Superb.
Bright red-ruby. Very pure, high-pitched aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice and pepper. Quite subtle and tight, showing less obvious texture and volume than the Charmes but compelling juiciness and inner-mouth aromatic perfume. This comes across as a bit lighter in the middle but really rises on the back half, finishing long and scented, with a sexy gamey nuance. Very stylish and energetic grand cru.
