Punteggio 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2009

Good medium red. Ripe, musky aromas of red cherry and chocolate, with strong soil tones. At once creamy-sweet and juicy on the palate, with a fine-grained texture to the cherry and floral flavors. Finishes broad and sweet, with a palate-coating quality and enticing lift.

Punteggio 18.5/20 · Da bere 2013-2025, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2009

Gevrey-Chambertin has 26 premier cru and 8 grand cru. Half of these premier crus surround the grands crus near Morey, the other half are situated close to La Combe de Lavaux. The soil composition is made of both chalk and clay. The vineyard of Griotte is located opposite Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and next to Chapelle-Chambertin in the southern part of the village, near Morey-St-Denis. The wine is fermented in vats for 3-4 weeks and aged for 18-20 months in oak barrels. Well coloured. Intense cherry fruit with an edge of darker spice, opening up to inviting red fruit aromas. Sweet and rich and still very fine. Excellent combination of sweetness of fruit and fresh, lighthanded winemaking though the flavours are still insistent and long-lasting. Delicious in medium and longer term. (JH)

A layered and very fresh but ripe wild red berry fruit nose complements the rich, full, generous and also quite fresh medium plus weight flavors that coat the palate with dry extract as confers a real sense of volume to the minerally and mildly sauvage finish that possesses seriously impressive length and depth. Griotte rarely is more complex than say Mazis or Latricières but that is the case with this wine in 2007. Definitely worth considering. Allen Meadows, Burghound Apr01,2009
