This property is rebounding nicely given what they have accomplished over the last few years. The 2007 exhibits a touch of herbaceousness that only adds to the complexity of the black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with hints of graphite and spice box. Soft and medium-bodied, it is meant to be drunk over the next 6-7 years.

Fresh, restrained cassis aroma. Dry, fresh and slightly dusty tannins and lightly scented on the palate. Quite well sustained given the vintage. (JH)
Lightweight impact on the nose. Very dry and tight and a bit unfriendly. It may unfurl but there is not much fruit excitement here. Chalky finish. (JR)
Offers blackberry and fresh tobacco aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe tannins and a long, caressing finish. A pretty seamless wine. Best after 2012. 8,335 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2010

Ch. Olivier is one of the few actual castles in Bordeaux – coming with a moat and drawbridge. Since Alexandre de Bethmann took over here in 2012, the château has been given a new lease of life, with quality on the rise.
