Subtle/closed on the nose at first but there's a marked creamy/leesy aroma. Citrus and a note of herbs but it's that creamy/oatmeal character that dominates. Very dry and wonderfully refreshing. Tight, tastes very young and the fruit seems fuller and more rounded on the palate. Long as well as fresh. Savoury/mealy aftertaste. GV (JH)

A sleeper of the vintage from this estate best known for its exquisite Sauternes, this dry, crisp, white Bordeaux is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Beautiful notes of beeswax, honeysuckle, lemon oil intertwined with hints of pineapple and orange rind are found in this medium-bodied, lusciously fruity, zesty dry white. Sauvignon 30%, Sémillon 70%. Big and heady and quite blustering. A food wine wth a light oiliness – very Sémillon. The spectre of Sauternes hangs heavy over this. Stirs my curiosity to taste Ygrec in its new formulation...? Not a silly price considering its pedigree. (JR)
