Note di degustazione
This is a floral and elegantly complex edition of this wine with dried meat and leather, iron and graphite, tobacco and dry spices. More elegant palate than the 1990, it has a very fine stream of red fruit and spiced cherries and a central, linear focus. The flavors hold so very long, deeply concentrated and focused. The fruit livens up at the finish and opens very impressively. Drink now.

Magnum. Fully developed nose with black olive, earth, truffle, mushroom, compost and plenty of acetic, varnish sort of aromas too. Very much the old school of Châteauneuf, and the flavours are pretty extraordinary, but there is a lack of primary fruit that makes this rather too medicinal in the final analysis. (RH)
Mid crimson. Immensely thick and sweet. Served blind and went particularly well with the spiced duck. Really rich and fully evolved with layers of spiciness itself. Rather glorious. Wrapped itself round the palate. (JR)

This Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate is one of the Rhône’s most famous addresses. With a history stretching back to the 16th century, Beaucastel remains family owned and run, with the fifth generation of the Perrin family – Marc, Pierre, Thomas, Cécile, Charles, Matthieu and César – at the helm today.
