Punteggio 18.5/20 · Da bere 1995-2015, Jancis Robinson MW, Dec 2009

Mid crimson. This ancient wine seemed to be in the prime of life. Sweet, jewel bright. Very evolved, complex with untamed sort of flavours. Rich and satisfying yet with admirable freshness. (JR)

Punteggio 85/100 · Da bere 2000, Robert Parker, Jun 2000

One of my all-time favorite Beaucastels, the 1970 is in serious decline. Fortunately, I have only two bottles remaining of the two cases I purchased. I am pleased to have drunk it during its full majesty between 1978 - 1995. The tannin and acidity now have the upper hand, and the structure is imposing, with an absence of sweetness and fruit. The bouquet continues to offer abundant quantities of smoked meat, leather, and dried herb/peppery aromas, but the fruit has begun to dissipate. Drink it up.
