Note di degustazione
One of the best base cuvees out there is easily the 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape from Janasse. This crazy good wine (which was a smoking value on release) offers terrific freshness and purity as well as full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, notes of dark berry fruits, sappy herbs and pepper and a huge mid-palate. It’s firing on all cylinders today but will evolve easily for another decade.

Opaque purple. Seductive aromas of blackberry and boysenberry preserves, smoked meat, licorice and lavender expand with air without loss of clarity. Broad and seamless, with deeply concentrated dark berry flavors and fully absorbed tannins. Finishes sweet, with a strong echo of boysenberry. This impressively deep wine will stand up to plenty of special cuvees for richness and power.
Saturated ruby. Powerful scents of dark berry preserves, incense and smoky herbs. Weighty blackberry and blueberry flavors are enlivened by juicy acidity and pick up a brighter raspberry quality with air. Very sweet and seamless wine with excellent back-end power and repeating notes of blue fruits and herbs. This is delicious right now.
