Note di degustazione
Fully mature, the 2009 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a brilliant wine displaying blackberry, spice, sandalwood, and hints of cured meats on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows incredible class with a focused, slightly firm profile that remains balanced and a joy to drink. Based on 47% Grenache, 38% Syrah, 13% Mourvèdre, and 2% Cinsault, aged in equal parts foudre and new barrels for 12 months, it has integrated its oak and will continue to shine over the coming 4-5 years. Drink: 2025-2030.

Vivid ruby. Ripe cherry and dark berry aromas, with exotic notes of pit fruits and vanilla gaining strength with air. Supple, sweet, palate-coating blackberry and cherry flavors become spicier with air. Shows very good energy on the finish, which is precise, sappy and very persistent.
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape is performing even better from bottle than it did last year. Composed of 47% Grenache, 38% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre, it is surprisingly soft and evolved for La Nerthe, but that actually gives the wine additional appeal. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by aromas of blue and black fruits, lavender, licorice, truffles and garrigue. Full-bodied, supple textured, fleshy and succulent, it will provide enjoyment over the next 10-15 years. One of Chateauneuf du Pape’s classic estates, Chateau La Nerthe’s 225+ acres are all located in the southeastern quadrant of the appellation. A property that can trace its history back to 1560, La Nerthe was also one of the first estate bottlers. It was acquired by the Richard family in 1985, and they immediately turned this once run down estate around. Long-time manager, Alain Dugas, has quietly slipped into retirement, turning the estate over to his assistant, Christian Voeux. La Nerthe’s two white Chateauneuf du Papes are among the classics of the appellation. Importer: Pasternak Wine Imports, Harrison, NY; tel. (800) 946-3110
