1995 Chateauneuf du Pape

The red 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Classique was bottled in March, 1997, and will be released in November, 1997. An excellent wine, it offers up a stylish, lead pencil, vanillin, black currant-scented nose, medium to full body, admirable structure and tannin, spicy, rich fruit, and fine length. It is a classic, elegant, modern-styled Chateauneuf du Pape that should be cellared for 2-3 years and consumed over the following 15. I suspect La Nerthe will make even greater wine, but there is no reason to complain about the quality emanating from this, Chateauneuf du Pape's most historical estate, and its only grand chateau.
