Note di degustazione
This was another terrific showing for the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape (94% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault) and it has a killer bouquet of thyme, menthol, ground herbs and blackberry fruit as well as full-bodied richness, a seamless texture and fine tannin. Still youthful, drink it anytime through 2025.

Gamey nose. With herbs too. A real daube! Not the most concentrated but lots of fun and easy charm that finishes dry rather than sweet. Far from massive. Needs food as it’s a little chewy still. (JR)
Deep red. Powerful red berry and cherry aromas, with complicating floral, mineral and herbal qualities adding interest. Silky red and dark fruit flavors are deep and sweet, with slow-building licorice and garrigue carrying into the finish. Finishes with a complex, persistent array of fruit and minerality.
CS Gamey, fully developed nose. Very sweet palate entry but a bit diffuse. Easy for early drinking but it doesn’t seem to have much in reserve. Dusty tannins – a little rustic – but certainly not like any wine from elsewhere… (JR)
