2011 Pouilly-Fuisse Tournant de Pouilly Cuvee Hors Classe is a selection of 8-year-old vines that see one-third aged in oak and two-thirds in tank. It has a very refined, controlled bouquet with sublime oak integrated just giving the aromatics lift. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with wonderful minerality and a poised, precise, almost Puligny-like finish. Excellent. Domaine J.A. Ferret was founded in 1850 and passed through a female line of succession that had the nous to bottle themselves, long before the practice became common. Beaune-based Louis Jadot acquired Ferret in 2008 following the passing of Colette Ferret without heir. Audrey Braccini is the present winemaker and she is doing an excellent job because some of these wines are equal to Jadot-s Premier and even Grand Crus. Importer: Kobrand Inc., Purchase, NY; tel. Moderate wood influence still allows the ripe, airy and layered aromas of lemon peel, white peach and pear to express themselves before marrying into impressively concentrated and seductively textured medium weight flavors that possess good power and punch on the solidly complex, intense and lingering finish where a touch of wood resurfaces.
