A sexy, soft, fleshy, medium-bodied, fully mature Pomerol, the 2003 La Fleur Petrus possesses notes of jammy cherries, licorice and underbrush. It will not improve any further, so drink it over the next 5-6 years.

Bricky garnet. Farmy/stable aroma. Pruney, overripe fruit on the palate. Dry hard finish. (JH)
Medium red. Sweet aromas of redcurrant, plum, toffee and caramel. Offers good mid-palate sweetness with some backbone and restraint. Not particularly complex but offers firm shape for the vintage. Finishes with slightly dusty, drying tannins.
Mid crimson. Very gamy and exotic on the nose. Soft, round and with a bit of puppy fat. Good undertow and sandy tannins. Some animal notes with lots of tannins on the finish. Not quite refreshing enough. (JR)

Château La Fleur-Pétrus was the first acquisition of many in Pomerol by Jean Pierre Moueix, who went on to own Château Trotanoy, Château Hosanna and most notably Pétrus. Jean Pierre Moueix was born in Corèzze in moved to Saint-Émilion with his parent in 1929 following the Great Depression.
