Note di degustazione
Enjoyable, plump with damson and black cherry fruits that remain young at 10 years old. The oak ageing is still dominant, with black pepper, chocolate and grilled cedar notes, but the tannins are softened, and this is ready to drink. Late harvest, beginning October 8 through to October 16, 40hl/ha yield. Aged in 40% new oak.

Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting, the 2012 Bouscaut had a medicinal bouquet with strong peppermint aromas filtering through and depriving it of full terroir expression. This is completely different to my memories of how the barrel sample showed. The palate is sweet and rounded on the entry, quite succulent but demonstrating a little over-extraction and too much oakiness on the finish. It is a wine that is trying hard, maybe too hard to impress when perhaps there was no need. I will seek to re-evaluate this. Tasted January 2016.
Tasted blind. Good freshness – very direct. Good balance. Racy. (JR)
