From one of the reference point estates for the cooler climate Cotes de Francs appellation, the 2004 Puygueraud possesses a deep ruby/purple hue, a sweet perfume of black currants, licorice, and underbrush, medium body, and a soft style. It is ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.
Medium red. Currant, plum and a whiff of beefsteak tomato on the nose. Supple and easygoing, with good texture and ripeness. The tannins are slightly dusty and dry. Incidentally, this is the last vintage of this wine to include some cabernet sauvignon.
Very very deep purplish crimson. Glamorous, full, quite ripe and opulent – neat little sandy tannins but a very nice package – one of the best value? Fresh and lively. [The Thienpont family’s home farm.] (JR)

The Thienpont family bought Ch. Puygueraud in 1946, running it as a farm until the 1980s when Nicolas Thienpont moved the focus to viticulture, with the first vintage in 1983. Based in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, the property comprises 47 hectares of vines, both red and white.
