The 1988 is a flashy, seductive, full-bodied, amply endowed, as well as generously oaked wine. The tannins are slightly more aggressive than fans of this property's wines usually expect. Nevertheless, the wine exhibits plenty of extract and size. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 3/91.

This big, ripe, soft and flashy red has decadent aromas of ripe fruit, tobacco, cedar and smoke. Medium- to full-bodied, with soft tannins and a long, fruity finish. Will improve but delicious now.--1988 Bordeaux horizontal. Best from 2000 through 2005. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1998
