Pouring an electric pink color, the NV Champagne Imperial Brut Rosé is initially a bit reserved aromatically and opens to juicy aromas of apricot, pressed flowers, and fresh berries. Fluffy and inviting, it’s primary with ripe red fruit through the palate and has a clean and supple finish. Easy-drinking and poppy with fruit, it’s marked by notes of late summer fruits without feeling cloying on the finish. Drink it now or over the next few years.

No clue as to principal vintage or disgorgement date but there is code LAL 84 on the back label. 40– 50% Pinot Noir of which 10% is still; 30–40% Pinot Meunier and 10–20% Chardonnay. Aged for 21 months before disgorgement with dosage 9 g/l. Quite a deep orangey pale strawberry colour. Not much nose but a lively mousse – fairly exuberant bubbles – that is just the right side of aggressive. Not too sweet with very lively acidity. Extremely fruity though, as I say, not too sweet. A little chewy on the end after a really mouth-filling palate. Respectable considering presumably the massive quantity. (JR)
A complex and fresh nose with fresh berries, as well as berry pastry and biscuits. The palate has a fresh, crisp and lively feel with impressively upbeat berries. Drink now.
Dosage 9 g/l. 40-50% Pinot Noir (of which 10% is red wine), 30-40% Pinot Meunier (of which 10% is red wine), 10-20% Chardonnay. Aged 21 months on lees. Rosy pink colour. Confected strawberry fruit. Smooth, dry but not hugely interesting beyond the primary fruit appeal. (RH)
