Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2015-2022, Robert Parker, Jun 2015

Delicious, pure crème de cassis notes intermixed with licorice and forest floor jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple wine. It has youthful vigor, medium to full body, and lovely ripeness and length. An impressive effort and one that is very satisfying, it should be drunk over the next 5-7 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

The new wine from the Cos team. Paler than most. Simple crimson. Very strong cassis aroma – almost Australian! Very dry tannins behind some velvety texture. And then a note of greenness. Fast fade. (JR)

(80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot) Good full ruby-red. Cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate on the nose. Densely packed, supple and sweet, but with the cut and balancing freshness of the vintage. In a distinctly modern style, and fresh and persistent on the finish. But this is to drink, not to age, advises Jean-Guillaume Prats, who directs winemaking for owner Michel Reybier. He noted that Les Pagodes de Cos, the second wine of Cos d'Estournel, is similar in its modern style to this blend, which comes from mostly cabernet on gravelly soils about 20 miles north of St. Estephe, but that Pagodes has more spicy complexity and aging potential.
