The 2011 Haut Cote de Nuits Blanc comes from a parcel in the lieu-dit of Fontaine Saint-Martin. It undergoes one-day skin contact maceration just before pressing and two-thirds is raised in barrel and the rest in stainless steel. It has a simple, grapefruit and dandelion-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely balanced with attractive tropical tones that do not overwhelm this lovely white Burgundy that should be consumed in the next couple of years. Two doors down from Anne Gros is cousin Michel. I have been visiting here for a number of years and Michel always makes thoughtfully crafted wines. I sometimes do find them a little on the oaky side, which occasionally denudes them of some finesse, but they are very consistent. Importer: Martin Scott Wines; www.martinscottwines.com
