Note di degustazione
Good deep red-ruby. Aromas of currant, licorice and game, with suggestions of superripeness. Densely packed and concentrated, if a bit stunted by the bottling. Flavors of dark fruits, violet, minerals and flowers. Rather large-scaled for this cuvee, but this will need five or six years in bottle to show more sweetness and pliancy.

Sweet red fruits and spices can be discerned in the nose of the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux. Fashioned from 65-70 year old vines, it is silky-textured, medium-bodied, and expansive. Copious quantities of mocha cream-laced red cherries, raspberries, and spices can be detected in its complex personality as well as in its extremely long, focused finish. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016. Importer: Martine’s Wines, Novato, CA; tel. (415) 883-0400
Good medium ruby. Blackberry, violet, game, bitter chocolate and espresso on the nose. Extremely intense and very sweet yet refined; offers an uncanny combination of finesse and power. Very different in texture from the premier cru. Finishes very long and complex, with fine tannins and lingering notes of torrefaction.
