2008 Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon Iugum

Di Poli's Merlot-based 2008 Iugum emerges from the glass with crushed red berries, flowers, herbs and spices. This is a decidedly soft, mid-weight Iugum with good balance and fine overall harmony. The 2008 is a strong effort for a year in which peronospera played havoc in the vineyards. Naturally the 2008 can't match the exuberance and sheer visceral thrill of the 2007. It is best enjoyed over the next few years.
