Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2033, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, Jun 2024

A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2009 Montlandrie has a deep garnet color, with a touch of brick. It swans out of the glass with showy notes of black cherry preserves, blueberry pie, raspberry coulis, and Indian spices, followed by suggestions of incense, dried roses, and iron ore, with a touch of cardamom. The full-bodied palate delivers compelling tension with velvety tannins and mouth-coating black fruit preserves, finishing very long and spicy. It still has a lot of fruit and soul so you can continue to cellar another 10-15 years at least. 2000 cases were made.

With an inviting nose of licorice, dark cocoa, black cherry liqueur and floral notes, this round, plush, forward wine is already delicious and will get even better with a few more years of age. The debut vintage for Chateau Montlandrie was produced from a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. This is a great example of a Bordeaux value wine.

A wine with dried berries such as strawberries and blueberries. Hints of dried lemon peel. Very vibrant. Full body, with chewy tannins that are polished and fine. From the same owner of L'Eglise Clinet. Better in 2014. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

Do not ignore this wonderful Cotes de Castillon! It has a beautiful, vibrant bouquet with very expressive Cabernet Franc. Wonderful delineation here with hints of crushed rose petals and vivacious red fruits. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins. There is a real fleshiness here from the Merlot, but the Cabernet Franc completes the picture with the hints of tobacco on the finish. Superb. Tasted September 2011.
