Flashy and sweet and well constructed but not pure and not really St Emilion. I guess Bernard Magrez does need the terroir to begin with before his wines can really show well… (JR)

Good ruby-red. Superripe aromas of kirsch and nutty oak. Sweet, dense, lush and fine-grained, with plenty of dark fruits to stand up to the chocolatey torrefaction notes. A big, rich, long wine whose tannins reach the incisors. An impressive showing.
This is an amazing performance for Fombrauge in such a challenging vintage. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet, concentrated fruit as well as an espresso roast-scented bouquet displaying notions of chocolate, black cherry liqueur, and smoke. Drink this medium to full-bodied, luscious 2002 over the next 10-12 years. A blend of 71% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is unquestionably a sleeper of the vintage.
