Bright, dark red-ruby. Brooding aromas of black cherry and menthol, with a slightly sauvage aspect. Less refined on the palate than the Griottes or Charmes, offering sweet, sappy black cherry, mint, menthol and leather flavors, an edge of acidity, and a slight rusticity. Finishes firmly tannic and quite masculine, even a bit brutal, with a repeating leathery nuance. This will need at least five years of aging.

Good deep red-ruby. Blueberry, licorice and a peppery nuance on the nose. Juicy and tight but rather folded in on itself, as this wine typically is in its youth. Powerfully broad-shouldered but shows little give today owing to its strong spine and minerality.
A cool and layered nose features dark berry fruit aromas cut with earth, spice hints, underbrush and a touch of forest floor that merge into textured, concentrated and notably powerful flavors that carry obvious minerality on the balanced, deep and stunningly persistent finish underpinned by very firm but not hard tannins.
